NextStop is an iOS app for planning outings and trips with friends and sharing live location in real time. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: your data is used to make the app work for you and your friends, and we do not sell it.
1.Who we are
NextStop ("NextStop," "we," "us") provides a mobile application and this website at nextstopapp.co. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us any time at hello@nextstopapp.co.
2.Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name, and an optional profile photo.
- Location data. NextStop includes live location sharing and an optional private Day History. When you turn these features on, we process your device's location so the friends you choose can see where you are, so the app can show ETAs and arrival updates, and so you can revisit places you have been. These features are opt-in and you can turn them off at any time.
- Content you create. Plans, saved places, messages, reactions, photos, and recaps you add inside the app.
- Private event gallery details. Guests may optionally add a name, phone number, or email when sharing event photos. Names may appear beside uploaded moments. Phone numbers are visible only to the event hosts and NextStop, are never shown in the gallery, and are used only for opted-in gallery updates and a NextStop launch notice.
- Usage and device data. Basic information about how you use the app and the device you use it on (app version, device model, crash logs), to keep the app working and improve it.
3.How we use your information
- To run core features: finding places, building plans, coordinating with friends, and saving recaps.
- To power live location sharing and ETAs only with the friends you choose, only while you have it enabled.
- To personalize recommendations to your taste (the places you save, skip, and visit).
- To send event gallery updates and a NextStop launch notice when a guest chooses to provide contact details for those messages.
- To keep the service secure, fix bugs, and understand which features people use.
4.Location, specifically
We take location seriously because it's sensitive. A few commitments:
- Location sharing is opt-in. It is off until you turn it on.
- Your live location is shared only with the specific friends you choose, never publicly and never with advertisers.
- You can stop sharing at any time, and you can set privacy zones to keep sensitive places (like home) private.
- Day History stays on your device unless you separately enable private account backup. When enabled, your exact history is stored privately with your account so it can be restored on another device. Turning backup off removes that cloud copy without deleting the history on your phone.
- We do not sell your location or movement history.
5.What we don't do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party ad tracking, and we do not share your location with advertisers or data brokers. NextStop is not an attention-farming or follower-graph product.
6.Affiliate links
Some links in NextStop and on this site are affiliate links to partners such as Tripadvisor and Booking.com. If you book or purchase through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes which places we recommend. Picks are based on your taste and quality, not commissions.
7.Third-party services
We use trusted service providers to operate NextStop, including cloud hosting and database providers, mapping and places data, and crash/usage analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms, and only as needed to provide the service.
AI features. Some NextStop features are powered by AI, like building trip plans and itineraries, the in-app AI assistant, taste-based recommendations, and transcribing voice notes. To produce these results we send the content those features need to our AI provider, OpenAI. Depending on the feature, that can include the requests and messages you type, the places you've saved and your taste signals, your approximate location for local context, and, for voice features, the audio you record. OpenAI processes this only to return results to you, under its own privacy and data-use terms, and does not use it to train its models. We send only what a feature needs.
8.Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your content at any time from within the app. To delete your entire account, use the Delete Account option in the app or email hello@nextstopapp.co, and we remove your personal data and uploaded media from our active systems. Limited abuse and safety reports may be retained when needed to protect users or meet legal obligations, but account identifiers are removed from those retained records.
Optional phone numbers submitted through private event galleries are automatically deleted after 90 days.
9.Children
NextStop is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10.Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@nextstopapp.co and we'll help.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
